Get to know your sewing machine part 1 is starting right at the basics of how to thread your sewing machine, to wind a bobbin and how to play around with the tension and selecting your stitch choice
Join Angie from the Geeky Seamstress to get started sewing. Angie started The Geeky Seamstress in 2020 while being furloughed from her full time job and together we help the customers of Royal Wootton Bassett with alterations and other sewing needs.

Who is this workshop for?
· Anyone with a sewing machine or wants to buy a sewing machine that doesn’t feel confident using one.
· No previous experience or knowledge required.
· Suitable for absolute beginners.
· Have had a machine for a while but wants to get the most out of it
· Please note I am most experienced with Janome machines.
· Please bring your machine and manual and different machine feet if you have them.
· The basics such how to wind a bobbin and thread a machine (as its so easy to put it in upside down)
· The different kinds of machine feet and how to use them to your advantage
· Practising and experimenting with different kinds of stitches and how the different feet can help
· Sewing straight lines, curves and corners
· Troubleshooting and how to stay friends with your machine

FAQs
Will I need to own a machine? - No we have ones available to use but as each model is different we would rather you bring your own to get the best lesson possible
Parking? - after 6pm there is no time limit on the side of the road so parking will be free
What is supplied? - 1 universal top load bobbin, 1 100m thread, enough fabric to complete the exercises, plus worksheets to scribble down helpful notes.
What is available to be borrowed during the class? - we have a basic sewing kit that each person can use each session so that there is no waiting or sharing
What do I need to bring? - Your sewing machine, manual and power cable, bits and bobs box or toolbox/bag that came with your machine, pen and notebook, all your questions and a charged phone / camera device
Lastly to Note· Please arrive before 6pm if possible so we can make full use of the time we have
· Workshop size is 3 people
· Tea making and water facilities are available
· Cloth of Gold is wheelchair accessible by a ramp
