Join Angie from the Geeky Seamstress to get confident with a range of zip types. Angie started The Geeky Seamstress in 2020 while being furloughed from her full time job and together we help the customers of Royal Wootton Bassett with alterations and other sewing needs. Learn about the types of zips available and the difference uses and practice sewing of lots zips types. You'll learn to sew open and closed end zips; zips for pockets and also unpicking and starting again. It's all about practice when it comes to sewing zips. You'll get all the materials needed for the workshop, you just need to bring yourself, your machine and accessories such as different feet, screwdriver, and your machine manual (and glasses should you need them). When  – Thursday 10th July 2025 Time  - 6 til 7.30 pm Where -  Cloth of Gold, 126 High Street, SN4 7AU Who is this workshop for? · Anyone know wants to get more confident putting zips in and developing their knowledge on when to use each type and the benefits of each. · No previous experience or knowledge required. · Suitable for beginners and above · Please bring your machine and manual and different machine feet if you have them as some zips prefer different feet to put them in with What will be covered in the 1 1/2 hours? · You will have a go at 3 different types and walk away with samples to refer back on · The different kinds of machine feet that can be used for zip insertion and how to use them to your advantage · Troubleshooting and how to understand how to improve your zip insertion · Being confident at unpicking something and trying again · Q and A FAQs Will I need to own a machine? -  No we have ones available to use but as each model is different we would rather you bring your own to get the best lesson possible Parking?  - after 6pm there is no time limit on the side of the road so parking will be free  What is supplied?  - 1x 100m thread, enough fabric to complete the exercises, plus worksheets to scribble down helpful notes. In this workshop you will be taught how to copy the garment using a tracing wheel, pattern paper and cutting mat. Also how to check that the pieces match so you don't have any discrepancies once cut out in fabric.   Join Angie from the Geeky Seamstress to get started sewing. This is the follow on to part 1 of get to know your sewing machine in this one you would need to know how to thread your machine and the basic stitches. However we will focus on taking the basics to the next stage and learn how to use the seam allowance guide, how to make buttonholes, using a zipper foot and doing a blind hem.  Join Angie from the Geeky Seamstress to get started sewing. Do you want to have a go or get confident sewing with different stretch fabrics? Then this is the workshop for you! We will be spending 1 1/2 hours focused completely on understanding and practicing sewing stretch fabric with your sewing machine and having a go on an overlocker. We will look at the settings you need to use on your sewing machine, the types of fabrics you can use, and look at some easy stretch patterns to start off your stretch clothing sewing journey. There will also be time for you ask all the questions you want about overlockers. When  –  Wednesday 16th July 2025 Time  - 6 til 7.30 pm Where -  Cloth of Gold, 126 High Street, SN4 7AU Who is this workshop for? · Anyone know wants to get more confident or start your stretch fabric journey. · Basic sewing knowledge required. · Suitable for beginners and above · Please bring your machine and manual if you have a walking foot that can be used as well.
